The Greater Eloise Stewards (formerly the Friends Invasive Plant Action Group) had been busy in the group's early years, beginning in 2007, removing Garlic Mustard and Buckthorn from the Wildflower Garden. Once the majority of that work was done, upkeep was turned over the the Garden Legacy Stewards and The Friends group moved outside the Garden to the surrounding buffer zone where work continued, branching off the east into the maple glen and southeast into the oak savanna and northward into the north meadow.
