We have another volunteering option. The redesign of the Hennepin County Library, Sumner Branch in 2004 included glass display cases in their reading room for exhibits from local community organizations. It’s a great opportunity for us to highlight The Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary to our neighbors. This meets our mission statement…to educate and inspire all people in relating to the natural world. We strive to be an inclusive organization of people of all backgrounds, abilities, ages and ethnicities.
Would you consider supporting the Garden and Sumner Library with this ongoing display case project highlighting Eloise Butler and her Garden?
I envision a new display for each of the four seasons, with one shelf dedicated to what's blooming in the Garden, another about Eloise Butler and the Garden history (changed annually) and the third focusing on the birds and other critters in the Garden. Each shelf is less than 15 x 15 inches.
This committee would meet to brainstorm ideas, gather display items, and then set up exhibits seasonally. My goal is to be ready this April.
Contact me (email) if you are interested. All help is appreciated, even if you can only contribute to one aspect of the project or only a few times a year.
We have very active volunteers among our Shelter and Invasive Plant Group Volunteers. We are always looking for volunteers to writing and produce the Gentian and general office work. Refer to our website volunteer page for more information.
We are just a month away from the earliest blooming in the Garden, skunk cabbage – record March 13.
See you in the Garden,
